About

AFECC, an educational charity in Glasgow, Scotland, offers Islamic education for children aged 5 to 17 and runs a food bank to support those in need. Currently using third-party materials, they aim to develop their own curriculum by 2026, aligning with their vision to provide tailored education.

Designed model

For the book’s design, I wanted to create an immersive, engaging experience for students. Inspired by my memories of exploring the vibrant Moroccan market in Fes, where a welcoming gateway opens into a world of colors, sounds, and bustling life, I aimed to evoke a similar feeling in the book—inviting students into a rich, sensory journey.

Creating educational cards

From our workshop insights, we created three activity cards—Task, Learn, and Reflect—which are integrated throughout the book. To assess their value, we entered a testing phase to understand how these cards enhance students’ learning experiences.

How its being used

The design for Sanatayn focused on simplicity. The cover art, featuring all brand colors, was crafted to evoke the feeling of looking through a window—a symbol of opening a door to knowledge. This visual invites readers to glimpse the valuable insights awaiting them inside the book. The book is now being used by over 100 students at the centre
